UVA & UVB DAMAGES

  • Wrinkling and age spots
  • Supressed imune system
  • Primary cause of sunburn
  • When absorbed by crystaline lens, UVA could damage your retina, potentially leading to blindness
  • When absorbed by the cornea, UVB rays can destroy the outer cells and cause pain, blurred vision and temporary blindness
how sunglasses work

Gradient Sunglass Tints

Gradient tint sunglasses are an incredibly useful form of eye protection, providing a tint that gradually lightens from top to bottom to reduce glare without blocking out UV rays. This helps to reduce the intensity of the sun’s rays as they make contact with the eyes, while still allowing visual clarity.
Wearing gradient tint sunglasses can significantly reduce the amount of strain placed on the eyes, and is an ideal choice for those who spend extended periods of time outdoors, especially during the summer months. The tint of these sunglasses may vary from subtle to dark, depending on the level of protection desired. Additionally, the gradient tint can be applied to any existing standard lens, so those with prescription glasses can still enjoy the benefits of a tinted lens.

Polarised Lenses

Polarised sunglasses provide enhanced visual clarity in bright conditions by blocking out horizontal light rays that cause glare. This effect is achieved through a chemical filter which limits the wavelengths of light that reach the eye. Glare from reflective surfaces such as water, snow, asphalt, and sheet metal is thereby greatly reduced.

Polarised lenses provide significant relief from eye fatigue, heighten contrast, and promote visual comfort. However, these lenses may make it harder to view LCD screens, which is why they cannot be fitted with semi-rimless or rimless frames since the lenses are at risk of separation.

Sunglass Tints and Wraps

Darker Sunglass Tints

Our lenses with a dark tint are available in a number of shades, including brown, grey, and green. These tones offer accurate colour definition, ensuring a natural visual effect when viewed through them.

Tinted Brown lenses are particularly effective at enhancing the contrast between blues and greens, such as between grass and sky. Grey tints diminish brightness while still allowing 100% colour differentiation, and green lenses both heighten contrast and maintain colour equilibrium.

Lenses tinted brown are particularly beneficial in maximising the difference between blue and green shades, such as between grass and sky. Grey tinting reduces brightness without compromising the capacity to differentiate colours, while green lenses increase contrast and preserving colour balance.
